Your privacy is extremely important to us. Over time, we plan to go beyond what is legally required, and ethically necessary, to give you increasingly nuanced and powerful choices about what you wish to have your personal information used for-- and what you don’t.
Data We Collect
Web Browsing Information
When you visit any of the Websites, we collect information about the way you use the Website(s) (“Web Browsing Information”). Here is a list of the information we collect:
The date and time of your visit to the Website.
The pages you visit on the Website.
The time you spend on each page.
Your actions on each page. For example, if you click a button on the page.
The type of device you use to visit our Website. For example, are you using a tablet or mobile phone?
Your device’s IP (internet protocol) address. An IP address is a string of numbers that identifies a device on the internet. It does not identify the person using the device.
Your device’s operating system. For example, many PCs use the Windows operating system. Many Apple computers use a version of iOS.
The browser you use to visit the Website.
We use tags, beacons, and cookies to keep an eye on Website traffic. They tell us things like how people get to our Website and if they have visited before. We also ask web service providers, like Unbounce or Google Analytics, to tell us about Our Website traffic.
If you want to join CoverUS as a Member by downloading the App, we will ask you to create an account. When you create an account, we will collect the following information (“Account Information”):
your email address
your date of birth (to make sure you are at least 18 years old)
your country of legal residency (the Services are only currently available to legal residents of the United States)
your communication preferences
Additionally, if you use a social media account such as Facebook to sign-up for or to log into the App, some information that you have provided to that social media platform may be provided to us.
Also, when you redeem CoverCash rewards points, we may ask you to provide us with additional information in order to transfer rewards to your PayPal account or initiate ACH transfers to your bank through our third-party rewards partner Tremendous. The information requested may include: PayPal email address, bank account holder's name, bank account number, bank routing number, and bank account type. If you earn more than a certain amount of money through CoverUS, we may be required by law to mail you a form to obtain your social security number, and send you a form with your name, social security number, and amount of money we have paid you for government tax reporting purposes.
In order to provide high quality service and to protect our members and the Website, we take steps to make sure that CoverUS members provide honest and accurate information about themselves and to all survey questions to the best of their ability. These steps may include sending you a text message or email to confirm your contact information or asking you to provide personal information through security questions to help us verify your identity before you can redeem your points for rewards.
Once you have joined CoverUS as a Member, we also give you the option to share with CoverUS certain additional personal information (“Member Data”), such as medical diagnoses and prescriptions, including the option to download this information from an electronic health record. In the case of electronic health records, they are currently accessed via Apple Health Records. In the future, we may add options to share additional data about physical activity from a wearable device such as an Apple Watch or Fitbit, data from your financial accounts, data from your use of social media, additional data from your mobile phone such as location, as well as other methods of accessing your electronic health records. We consider this Member Data to be extremely sensitive, and we will never sell sell your individually identifiable information to any third party.
We may also invite you to engage various activities in the App, including the opportunity to earn money through participating in research such as by answering surveys (earning “Offers”), and to save money, such as by receiving and using a discount code on a product purchased online (savings “Offers”).
If accepting an Offer involves collecting additional data through the App (“Offer Data”), we will tell you, and you will always have the choice to participate or not.
How We Use Data
We will use the data we collect through the Services:
To present you with Offers that you qualify for based on your Member Data (but without sharing your Member Data with any third party, and only when you have agreed to be matched with a specific type of Offer)
To make sure the Website and App work the way they are supposed to.
To improve the Website and App.
To make the Website and App easier to use (for example, we will keep information you have entered so it does not need to be re-entered).
For advertising (using Web Browsing Information on our websites only; we do not present commercial advertising to our Members based on their sensitive Member Data).
For research (only using Offer Data that you have explicitly agreed to share; for example, when our customers or partners sponsor a survey Offer, and you accept that Offer, the sponsor receives your survey responses, which may be entered in a web form that we host, or in a form that we link to that is hosted by the sponsor).
To contact you (for example, to give you technical support or to tell you what’s new with CoverUS; we will NOT sell your contact information).
How We Protect Your Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Here are some of the steps we take to protect your privacy:
Data we have about you will be stored on protected computers. We limit and track who can see this data.
We limit who is allowed to see information that could directly identify you, like your name or social security number.
We will tell you if there is a serious data breach.
When and Why We Disclose Data
We will disclose (give out) data that we collect through the Services only for the reasons we list here. Other than these reasons, we will not sell, rent, lease, give, or share your data without your permission.
Reasons we disclose data:
For research. The primary purpose of CoverUS is to help you earn and save money, and one way you can earn money is to choose to fill out surveys in sponsored consumer health research studies. If you choose to participate by accepting an Offer to fill out such a survey, your survey responses will be new Offer Data that you have explicitly agreed to share with the study’s sponsor. In other words, the sponsor receives your survey responses, because you have explicitly agreed to share them. CoverUS may also aggregate your survey responses with those of other Members, and share aggregated data research reports with customers. Typically your name and other personally identifiable information is not included in the Offer Data that a sponsor receives, and they are not able to contact you. However, in some cases the survey you fill out in the App will be a preliminary “screening” survey, and you will end up filling out a followup survey on a third-party website that CoverUS does not control that may have different privacy policies that apply. Whenever you accept an Offer, you will always be notified by us about what information you are agreeing to share, and with whom.
To service providers. If we work with a service provider, we will give them any data they need to do the job we have asked them to do. A service provider is someone who is helping us with a part of the CoverUS Services.
For legal reasons. We may give out data if we are required to by law. Otherwise, we will not give out data in any civil, criminal, administrative, legislative, or other proceedings. In cases where the law says we are required to give out data, we will try to give out as little data as possible. We will try to protect your privacy as much as we can. Whenever possible, we will tell you if we have to give out data.
Links to Other Websites
We may provide links to third party sites, or you may choose through the Services to share information with a third party site. For example you might fill out a survey in the App as a preliminary “screening” survey, and then be linked to a followup survey on a third-party website that CoverUS does not control that may have different privacy policies that apply. Since we do not control these third party sites, we encourage you to review the Privacy Notices of those third party sites. Any information provided on these sites will not be within our control and we cannot be responsible for the privacy policies or the practices of these sites. Whenever you accept an Offer, you will always be notified by us about what information you are agreeing to share, and with whom.
Do Not Track
For the Websites, we do not currently support Do Not Track (“DNT”), although we plan to in the future. Do Not Track is a preference you can set in your web browser to inform websites that you do not want to be tracked. You can enable or disable Do Not Track by visiting the Preferences or Settings page of your web browser.
For the App, if you do not want us to track your use of the App, do not download it.
We take data security seriously. We use commercially reasonable systems and procedures to protect the data we collect from you through the Services. These systems and procedures help us prevent loss, theft, and misuse of your data. They help us prevent data breaches. Still, no matter what we do, we cannot promise that the data we collect from you is completely secure. There is a chance that your data could be compromised. We believe the risk is very small, but it is not zero.
How Long Will We Keep Your Data?
We seek to follow Privacy By Design principles, including the concept of data minimization. You may request deletion of all of your data at any time by sending email to firstname.lastname@example.org, or by selecting “Delete My Account” in the CoverUS App settings.
Your Rights and Choices
You have rights and choices about your data. For example, if there is an error in the data we collect from you, you have the right to ask us to fix it. You can email us at email@example.com.
You can stop using the Website or App or delete the App at any time. Additionally, you may also request deletion of all of your data at any time by sending email to firstname.lastname@example.org, or by selecting Delete My Account in the CoverUS App settings.

Cross-Border Transfer of Your Data
While the Services are intended for us only by legal residents of the United States, you can use the Services when you are not in the United States. If you do so, we may transfer your data to the United States. If you use the Services, you consent to the transfer of your data.
Contact / Opt-Out
If you have any questions, comments or requests, or to opt-out of receiving further communications from us, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Also, any email we send to you will contain an unsubscribe link so that you can opt-out of the subscription.
Collection of Personal Information from Children
Our Services are not directed to children. We do our best to get the parent’s consent prior to collecting any personal information from a child. Nonetheless, if we inadvertently collect personal information from a child 13 years of age or under, their parents always may review, or request that we delete their child’s information, or refuse to permit the further collection or use of it. Parents may send their preferences in an email to email@example.com. In addition, we will retain a child’s personal information for only as long as is reasonably necessary for us to fulfill the purpose for which the information was collected. After that, we will delete the child’s personal information using commercially reasonable measures to ensure it’s been securely destroyed.
